TT1450: Probationary Rate-$16.73/hr.-Job Rate-$17.23/hr. Two Year Rate:$17.75/hr.
THIS IS A 36 HR. PER WEEK BENEFITS ELIGIBLE POSITION
Responsibilities: Under the direction of an Emergency Medical Technician Preceptor and EMT Training Supervisor, the Emergency Medical Technician Apprentice will provide pre-hospital Basic Life Support (BLS) in all weather conditions, in concert with other EMS employees and as a member of the patient care team to patients of all ages and from all populations who experience any serious illness or injury. Uses age and population appropriate equipment and techniques to safely assess, treat, lift and move patients to the transport vehicle, and transport them to an appropriate medical facility. Completes all required documentation and other assigned duties supporting efficient EMS operations and representing University Hospital and EMS in a positive and professional manner.
Qualifications: The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Apprentice must be newly certified by the State of New Jersey or certified by the National Registry and have less than two (2) years of emergency EMS experience. Candidates with certification by the National Registry must obtain New Jersey certification within six (6) months of hire. The EMT Apprentice must have a valid driver's license with two (2) years driving experience and a good driving record. The EMT Apprentice must be able to pass a medical evaluation and a respirator fit test and wear an N95 particulate filter respirator mask in accordance with PEOSHA standards as a condition of employment. Bi-lingual English/Spanish skills preferred. The EMT Apprentice must possess and maintain current and active credentials in good standing (as determined by initial and periodic Primary Source Verification) as follows:
Credential Required: Active, valid verification as a New Jersey Emergency or certified by the State of New Jersey. Driver's License with NJ driving privaleges. Driver's License must be in accordance with the DOT/MVC regulations for the type/size/weight of the vehicle(s) assigned. Must be an authorized driver approved by the EMS Fleet Manager.
American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for the Healthcare Provider.
Incident Command System ((CS) Level 100 within 30 days of hire
National Incident Management System (NIMS) Awareness within 30 days of hire.
