TC1925: Probationary Rate: $22.17 - Job Rate: $22.67 - Two Year Rate: $23.35



Three (3) years of progressively more responsible clerical experience, one (1) year of which must have been in a physician’s office, hospital billing office or insurance company which involved billing and collection or medical insurance activities. Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred. Prior experience functioning in a computerized environment is required.




The primary purpose of the Financial Assistance Advisor position is to ensure that pertinent and accurate insurance information is obtained from the patient and subsequently updated in the hospital’s computer system for billing purposes. Follows up on pre-certifications for In-patient admissions, calls insurance carriers to give notice of admissions, processes Charity Care, Family Care, Presumptive Eligibility applications and Public Assistance inquiry forms. Provides patients with information pertaining to various NJ State programs such as Presumptive Medicaid/ NJ State Medicaid, NJ Family Care and Charity Care. Performs all activities in accordance with patients’ rights to health care access and confidentiality in a courteous and professional manner consistent with Five Star Customer Service policies. The position incorporates cross-functioning duties in the Patient Accounts’ Financial Counseling and Charity Care Units.
